St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17th. Though not a national holiday in America it is publicly celebrated year after year amongst great festivities. Possibly the only national holiday that is given recognition outside it's native land is St. Patrick's Day. Everything from parades, to the 'wearing of the green', to serving green beer (and yes .. they really add green coloring to it!) to some places going as far as dying rivers green, mark the holiday of Ireland's patron saint. This makes us wonder about the Irish influence throughout the world.
I always wondered about its history, about the shamrock leaf and the much talked about leprechaun, the blarney stone, why is green the official color of St. Patrick's Day and what is all this talk about the luck of the Irish. I did a little research here and there and this is what I found. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did..
